The Energize club has been a feature on a Wednesday night for almost 20 years! It provides an opportunity for disabled people aged 25 and over to come together for fun and learning. Each week 40 people gather to take part in a variety of activities ranging from art to gardening; cookery to dancing; and computer games to jigsaws!

The group members have now formed a committee who plan the programme and have responsibility for their own budget which they can spend on equipment and outings.

A major highlight for the Energize members is the annual trip to the Calvert Trust Centre at Kielder. The underlying principle of the Kielder Experience is that there should be no barriers to anyone taking part in any of the activities. This is a major challenge because our group cover a full range of disabilities including those with no sight and several wheelchair users. The outdoor instructor team at Calvert Trust are trained for this and ensure that everyone has a go at all the activities.
